City Notices: Road Closures, Health Alerts, and Election Deadlines

Public Notice: Essential City Updates for Wednesday, 18 March 2026
As Adelaide transitions from the peak of the festival season, the City Council and SA Health have issued several priority notices regarding road access, public health, and upcoming civic duties. Residents and commuters are advised to review the following updates to ensure minimal disruption to their daily routines.
Transport and Road Access
Several road closures remain in effect to facilitate corporate events and post-festival infrastructure removal:
- Vardon Avenue: A full road closure will be in place between 2:00 pm and 11:59 pm today, Wednesday, 18 March, for a private corporate event. Motorists are advised to seek alternative routes through the East End.
- Plane Tree Drive: Overnight closures continue in the Botanic Garden precinct. Plane Tree Drive (Zones 1-6) will be closed to all vehicles, cyclists, and pedestrians from 8:00 pm tonight until 6:00 am Thursday morning. These restrictions support the final phase of equipment removal following recent major events in Botanic Park.
- Greenhill Road: Night works for resurfacing continue on Greenhill Road. Commuters should expect lane restrictions and reduced speed limits between 7:00 pm and 6:00 am.
SA Health Advisories
Health authorities have issued high-priority alerts following recent notifications of communicable diseases in the metropolitan area:
- Measles High Alert: SA Health is monitoring a confirmed case of measles in an infant. Residents who visited CMI Toyota on West Terrace, Froth and Fodder Café in Kurralta Park, or the Jai Shiv Fruit and Veg Shop in South Plympton during early March are urged to remain vigilant for symptoms. If you develop a fever, cough, or blotchy rash, please contact your GP via telephone before visiting the clinic.
- Invasive Meningococcal Disease: A recent case of serotype B meningococcal disease has been confirmed in South Australia. Health officials remind the public that symptoms can progress rapidly and include high fever, headache, neck stiffness, and a distinctive purple rash.
- Coastal Advisory: A standing advisory remains for marine algal blooms along segments of the coastline. Avoid contact with abnormally discoloured or foamy water, and do not harvest or consume wild shellfish from affected areas.
Election and Community Consultation
With the 2026 South Australian State Election scheduled for Saturday, 21 March, early voting centres are now open across the city. Eligible voters who cannot attend a polling booth on Saturday are encouraged to utilize these facilities throughout the day.
Additionally, public consultation continues for the revised Community Land Management Plan for the Adelaide Oval Precinct (Park 26). Community members have until early April to provide feedback via the PlanSA portal regarding proposed variations to the management of this heritage space.
