Commuter Alert: Multiple Bus Detours and Major Intersection Works Across Adelaide

Wednesday Morning Traffic and Transport Overview
Commuters across Adelaide should prepare for several localized disruptions today, Wednesday, 11 February 2026. While major arterial roads remain generally functional, significant intersection upgrades and scheduled public transport adjustments are expected to impact travel times, particularly in the western suburbs and the CBD.
Key Roadworks and Intersection Upgrades
Major infrastructure projects continue to influence traffic flow today. The intersection of James Congdon Drive and Sir Donald Bradman Drive remains a primary focus of activity. Ongoing upgrades at this critical link between the western suburbs, the airport, and the CBD are causing lane restrictions and reduced speed limits. Motorists are advised to allow extra travel time if traversing this junction during the morning and afternoon peaks.
In the northern suburbs, minor finishing works and landscaping following the recent upgrades at The Grove Way and Canterbury Drive may cause intermittent lane closures. While the main thoroughfare is open, speed restrictions are in place to ensure the safety of workers on-site. Additionally, although the duplication of Main South Road between Aldinga and Sellicks Beach is now open to traffic, commuters in the far south should remain alert for any temporary speed limit adjustments as the new road surface continues to settle.
Adelaide Metro Service Disruptions
Adelaide Metro has confirmed several specific service alerts for today. Commuters using the following routes should check for modifications to their usual stops:
- Brooks Terrace: A scheduled stop closure is in effect today, Wednesday, 11 February, at Stop 16 Brooks Terrace. This impacts passengers using routes 241 and 241A.
- Bells Road: Stop 25C on Bells Road remains closed through today. Route 248 is currently operating on a detour, with commuters advised to use the nearest alternative stops.
- Pulteney Street: Night works on Pulteney Street are concluding today. Stop B1 and B2 have been affected by these works, impacting routes 167, 168, H30, and W90. Normal service is expected to resume following the completion of these works.
- Ashely Street: Detours and stop closures continue on Ashely Street through Saturday. Route 287 passengers should be aware of modified paths in this area.
- Pooraka Area: Stop 34 on Main North Road remains closed as part of a longer-term project affecting routes 228, 228F, and T228.
Public Transport Reminders
Passengers using the Adelaide Railway Station will notice ongoing installation work for new smart gates. These upgrades are part of the transition toward Tap and Pay and the new mobile ticketing app. While the station remains fully operational, please follow directional signage around the construction zones. Furthermore, commuters are reminded that paper MetroTickets are approaching retirement; from Friday, 20 February, these will no longer be accepted on the network.
