Major Disruptions on South Road

The most significant impact on today’s traffic remains centered on the North-South Motorway (T2D) project in Torrensville. A permanent traffic alignment is now in place on South Road between Ashley Street and the intersection of Ashwin Parade and West Thebarton Road. Motorists are advised of the following peak-hour restrictions that are being strictly enforced today:

• Turning Restrictions: There is no right turn permitted onto South Road from either West Thebarton Road or Ashwin Parade during peak periods (7:00 AM to 10:00 AM and 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM).
• Heavy Vehicle Detours: Trucks exceeding 8.8 metres are prohibited from turning right from West Thebarton Road at any time, with detours currently directed via Port Road.
• Northbound Constraints: Motorists travelling north on South Road cannot turn right onto West Thebarton Road.

Public transport users will face several new and ongoing service adjustments today. Commuters should be aware of a new stop closure starting this Friday morning:

• Sir Donald Bradman Drive: Stop 6A on the north side is officially closed as of today, March 20, through to late next week. This affects routes 163, J1, J2, and the AO26.
• South Road & Anzac Highway: Construction at this major intersection continues to necessitate detours for Routes 248 and 248A. These detours are expected to remain in place until early April.
