Public Notice: Community Consultation Deadlines and Essential Health Advisories

Community Consultation: West Torrens Facility Leases
The City of West Torrens reminds residents that the formal community consultation period regarding the current lease proposals for local community facilities is scheduled to conclude today, Thursday, 19 March 2026. This is the final opportunity for community members to provide feedback on the long-term management and use of these local hubs. Submissions must be received by the close of business to be included in the council’s assessment report. Feedback can be submitted through the official council engagement portal or in writing to the civic center.
Public Health Alert: Measles and Meningococcal Vigilance
SA Health has maintained a high-alert status across the Adelaide metropolitan area following recent notifications of communicable diseases. Residents are urged to remain vigilant for symptoms of the following:
- Measles: Following confirmed cases earlier this month, health authorities recommend monitoring for fever, cough, runny nose, and a characteristic blotchy rash. Residents who are not fully vaccinated with two doses of the MMR vaccine are encouraged to consult their healthcare provider.
- Meningococcal Disease: Following a recent case of invasive meningococcal disease (serotype B) in an infant, parents and caregivers are reminded to watch for high fever, headache, neck stiffness, and a red or purple skin rash that does not fade under pressure.
2026 Seasonal Influenza Program
The 2026 Seasonal Influenza program is now fully active across South Australia. For the 2026 season, health clinics have introduced a needle-free option for children aged 2 to 17 years through an intranasally administered live attenuated influenza vaccine (LAIV). SA Health encourages all families to schedule vaccinations early in the season to ensure maximum protection before the peak winter months. Appointments are available through local GPs and respiratory clinics.
Transport and Festival Infrastructure Notice
As the Adelaide Fringe continues its 2026 season, the City of Adelaide advises of ongoing transport adjustments. A temporary taxi rank remains active on the eastern side of East Terrace between Botanic Road and Rundle Road to accommodate festival crowds; this rank will remain in place until Monday, 23 March. Commuters are also advised that significant road closures for the East End Unleashed program and the upcoming AFL Round 2 fixtures at Adelaide Oval will begin on Friday afternoon. Please plan travel routes in advance to avoid congestion in the CBD.
Grants: 2026 Multicultural Festival
Applications are now open for the 2026 Multicultural Festival grants. Multicultural community organisations are invited to apply for funding to facilitate performances, stalls, or activities for the festival scheduled for late 2026. This grant program is the primary pathway for organisations to participate in the state’s largest celebration of cultural diversity at Victoria Square/Tarntanyangga. Applications will remain open until mid-May.
