Public Notice: Major Traffic Disruptions and Event Roundup for Friday, 10 April 2026

Official Notice: Road Closures and Transport Adjustments
The City of Adelaide and local authorities wish to advise residents and commuters of significant road closures scheduled for Friday, 10 April 2026. These disruptions are primarily driven by the ongoing AFL Gather Round festivities and the observance of the Greek Orthodox Good Friday processions. Motorists are encouraged to plan their routes in advance and expect delays in the CBD and western suburbs.
AFL Gather Round: Adelaide Oval Vicinity
To facilitate the safe movement of crowds following the Collingwood versus Fremantle match at Adelaide Oval, the following roads will be closed from approximately 9:25 pm until 11:30 pm:
- King William Road between North Terrace and Pennington Terrace.
- King William Street between Currie Street and North Terrace.
- Festival Drive between King William Road and a point 80 meters west.
- Sir Edwin Smith Avenue between Kermode Street and King William Road.
- Victoria Drive between Kintore Avenue and King William Road.
- North Terrace (westbound) between Victoria Street and King William Road (from 9:35 pm).
Public transport users should note that additional 'AO Express' bus services will be operating to manage passenger volumes during these times. Pedestrian access will be maintained throughout the district.
Greek Orthodox Good Friday Processions
Significant traffic management will be in place for the Greek Orthodox Good Friday processions occurring in both Mile End and the City West district. In Mile End, road closures will be active from 7:30 am to 10:00 pm, affecting the left lane of southbound Main South Road between George Street and Rose Street, as well as Kintore Lane, Kintore Street, and Dew Street. In the City West, closures will occur between 8:00 pm and 10:30 pm along sections of Franklin Street (eastbound), Gray Street, and Waymouth Street. Drivers are asked to respect all temporary traffic control devices and speed restrictions.
Ongoing Infrastructure and Public Service Updates
The Department for Infrastructure and Transport reminds commuters that long-term works continue on the North-South Corridor (T2D project). Specifically, right-hand turn restrictions remain in place on South Road at West Thebarton Road and Ashwin Parade during peak periods. A mandatory 40 km/h speed limit is strictly enforced through the construction zone.
In the CBD, the Hutt Street Revitalisation program continues to affect local parking. Residents are also invited to Elder Park for a live national television broadcast between 5:00 am and 8:30 am, where special fan events and player appearances are scheduled throughout the morning.
