Official Notice: City Services and Public Health Roundup

City Operations & Festival Transitions
Following the formal conclusion of the Adelaide Festival on Sunday, 15 March, the City of Adelaide advises residents and commuters of significant activity transitions within the CBD and Park Lands. While the Adelaide Festival has ended, the Adelaide Fringe continues its 2026 season through to 22 March. Consequently, major road closures remain in effect to support festival hubs and public safety.
- Rundle Road and East Terrace: Full closures remain active to facilitate 'The Garden of Unearthly Delights' and 'Gluttony'. These areas are restricted to authorized vehicles and pedestrians only until late March.
- Festival Precinct Pack-down: Increased heavy vehicle movement is expected around the Riverbank Precinct and the Adelaide Festival Centre as temporary infrastructure is removed. Please exercise caution when navigating North Terrace and King William Road.
- Botanic Park: While major restoration works on Plane Tree Drive have largely concluded, some localized access restrictions may persist near Speakers Corner to allow for final turf recovery.
Public Health Alerts: Measles and Meningococcal Vigilance
SA Health has issued high-priority notices following recent confirmed cases of communicable diseases within the metropolitan area. As of Monday, 16 March 2026, health authorities are maintaining a high-alert status for the following:
- Measles Alert: Following three confirmed cases notified in early March, residents are urged to monitor for symptoms including fever, cough, runny nose, and a characteristic blotchy rash. Authorities remind the public that measles is highly contagious and recommend that anyone who is not fully vaccinated (two doses of the MMR vaccine) contact their healthcare provider.
- Meningococcal Disease: A recent case of invasive meningococcal disease (serotype B) in an infant has prompted a reminder for parents and caregivers to remain vigilant. Symptoms to watch for include high fever, headache, neck stiffness, and a red or purple skin rash that does not fade under pressure.
Public Service: 2026 Seasonal Vaccination Program
The 2026 Seasonal Influenza program is now officially active across South Australia. For the 2026 season, the state has introduced the intranasally administered live attenuated influenza vaccine (LAIV) for children aged 2 to 17 years. This needle-free option is available through participating GPs and local clinics. SA Health encourages all residents to schedule their vaccinations early to ensure maximum protection ahead of the peak winter season.
Infrastructure Update: North-South Corridor (T2D)
Main construction works for the Torrens to Darlington (T2D) project are continuing across the Southern and Central precincts. Motorists should anticipate ongoing lane restrictions and speed limit adjustments along South Road. Site establishment is currently ramping up in the Northern precinct as the project prepares for the arrival of tunnel boring machines later this year. Commuters are advised to plan for additional travel time when traveling between Darlington and the River Torrens.
