Official Notice: Planning and Development Consultations

The City of Adelaide and neighboring regional councils remind residents that several key planning and development applications are reaching the end of their public notification periods. Today, Wednesday, 11 March 2026, marks the final opportunity for community members to submit formal representations regarding the following proposals:

  • Light Regional Council: A variation to the development of a micro-brewery and function center on Dawkins Road, Gawler River. This includes structural variations to the cellar door and landscaping.
  • City of Salisbury: A proposal for two detached dwellings and the removal of a significant tree on Rutherford Street, Valley View.
  • City of Tea Tree Gully: A change of land use at Smart Road, St Agnes, for the establishment of an indoor recreation facility and a retail outlet.

Submissions must be received by 11:59 pm tonight via the PlanSA portal or in writing to the relevant council office to be considered in the assessment process.

Transport and Access: Botanic Gardens Post-Event Restoration

Following the conclusion of recent major festivities in Botanic Park, the Department for Environment and Water has issued a standing notice regarding continued road closures. Plane Tree Drive (Zones 1-6), Frome Park, and Speakers Corner remain closed to all vehicles, cyclists, and pedestrians. This closure is necessary to facilitate the safe removal of infrastructure and the restoration of turf and garden beds.

Normal access for pedestrians and cyclists is scheduled to resume on Friday, 13 March 2026. During this period, visitors are encouraged to use the Botanic Gardens tram stop on North Terrace or alternative parking in the East End. We thank the public for their patience as we return these heritage spaces to their natural state.

Health Advisory: 2026 Immunization Programs

SA Health has activated its 2026 Seasonal Influenza program. This year marks the first time the intranasally administered live attenuated influenza vaccine (LAIV) is available in South Australia for children aged 2 to 17 years through state-based programs. Parents are encouraged to consult with their healthcare providers to schedule vaccinations ahead of the peak winter season.

Additionally, health authorities maintain a high-alert status for measles following recent notifications. Residents who have not received two doses of the MMR vaccine are urged to check their status. Symptoms typically include fever, cough, and a blotchy rash. Individuals experiencing these symptoms must contact their medical clinic by telephone prior to arrival to prevent potential transmission in waiting rooms.

Upcoming Council Activities

Following the City of Adelaide Council meeting held on Tuesday, 10 March, the next scheduled session is a CEO Briefing on the 2026/27 Business Plan and Budget, set for Thursday evening, 12 March, in the Colonel Light Room. Public galleries are open, and agendas are available at the Adelaide Town Hall.
