Official Weekly Gazette Publication

The South Australian Government Gazette is scheduled for its regular weekly publication on the afternoon of Thursday, 5 March 2026. As the official record of state and local government activity, this edition will contain the latest legislative updates, court notices, and formal government proclamations. Residents and legal professionals are advised that the Gazette remains the primary source for statutory notices during the current administrative period.

Major Road Closures and Traffic Management

Due to high-capacity events and the ongoing festival season, significant road closures will be in effect within the Adelaide CBD on Thursday, 5 March 2026. Motorists should plan for disruptions particularly between 10:15 pm and midnight to accommodate egress for major performances. Impacted routes include:

  • King William Street (northbound lanes) between Currie Street and North Terrace.
  • King William Road between North Terrace and Pennington Terrace.
  • Festival Drive from King William Road heading west.
  • Sir Edwin Smith Avenue between Kermode Street and King William Road.
  • Victoria Drive between Kintore Avenue and King William Road.
  • War Memorial Drive and Pennington Terrace.

Additional traffic restrictions remain in place across the East End for the Adelaide Fringe Festival, with increased pedestrian activity expected near Rundle Park and Rymill Park. South Australia Police (SAPOL) will be conducting high-visibility patrols under 'Operation Adelaide Fringe Festival' to ensure public safety and manage liquor licensing compliance.

State Election Caretaker Period

Public service operations continue under the caretaker conventions established following the issuance of writs for the 2026 State Election. Since 21 February, the South Australian Government has assumed a caretaker role ahead of the election on 21 March. During this period, certain government communications and major policy announcements are restricted to ensure political neutrality. Routine administrative tasks and public safety services remain unaffected.

Public Consultation: Planning and Development

Public comment periods for several significant development applications are set to close at 11:59 pm on Thursday, 5 March 2026. Residents wishing to provide feedback via the PlanSA portal must do so before the deadline for the following projects:

  • A proposed five-level residential flat building on Patawalonga Frontage, Glenelg North.
  • A change of land use for a personal services establishment on Unley Road, Unley Park.
  • New community clubroom facilities in Goolwa South.

Health Advisory: Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme Update

South Australians are reminded that as of 1 March 2026, new immunotherapy treatments for advanced and rare cancers have been listed on the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme (PBS). This landmark listing provides affordable access to life-changing medications for eligible patients at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital and other state facilities. Patients are encouraged to consult their oncologists regarding eligibility for these newly subsidized treatments.
